Working as a GP Locum in South Africa

In order to be eligible to work as a GP Locum in South Africa, you will need to register with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA).The HPCSA is the governing body who evaluates and register doctors to practice medicine in South Africa - www.hpcsa.co.za.

Once registered with the HPCSA, it is a legal requirement to keep all personal details up to date once in practice.

How to you go about registering with the HPCSA?

To register with the HPCSA, you will be required to complete Form 176 MDB, which can be downloaded from the website here. This completed form, along with all of the appropriate supporting documentation including an official and verified copy of all academic transcripts and postgraduate qualifications, should be returned directly to the Council.

How long does it take?

The application process with the HPCSA will take up to 6 weeks to complete.

Fees
