Great news for South African Doctors - Ireland is now open for business!
South Africa - Internship training will be recognised as equivalent to a Certificate of Experience awarded in Ireland if the applicant commenced their internship from 1st July 2006.

The Irish Revenue &/ employee Tax system is primarily made up of three components:
1. PAYE Tax (currently 20% and/or 41%)
2. PRSI (currently 4%)
3. USC (Universal Social Charge)
a. First €193 @ 2%
b. Next €115 @ 4%
c. Balance @ 7%

The Medical Council have just announced some great news for Non-EU applicants and we have included the details below. My first contact with Locumotion was part of an adventure, seeking a change in the monotony of everyday GP practice. This contact, through Helena Gleeson, was friendly and efficient and in no time was I registered with the Irish Medical Council and on my way to County Limerick to work for six weeks.
Taxation in Ireland from an employee's perspective
The Irish Revenue/employee tax system is primarily made up of three components:
PAYE Tax (currently 20% and/or 41%)
PRSI (currently 4%)
USC (Universal Social Charge)
First €193 @ 2%
Next €115 @ 4%
Balance @ 7%
Locum Jobs
Package one
Full GP week: €1,850 gross
Additional weekend out-of-hours shift: Average 8 hours at €60 per hour: €480 gross
Total weekly gross payment: €2,330
