Working as a Radiologist Locum in Ireland
In order to be eligible to work as a Radiologist Locum in Ireland, you will need to register with the Irish Medical Council (IMC). The IMC is the governing body who evaluate and register doctors to practice medicine in Ireland - www.medicalcouncil.ie.
How to go about registering with the IMC
Registration with the IMC is divided into the following categories:
Category A – If you are a graduate of a Higher Specialist Training Programmes in Ireland, the appropriate registration form can be downloaded here and should be submitted directly to the IMC with all the required supporting documentation.
Categories B, C and D – If you are a graduate of Higher Specialist Training Programme and/or recognised as a Specialist in an EU Member State, the appropriate registration form can be downloaded here and should be submitted directly to the IMC with all the required supporting documentation.
Category E – If you are a Medical Practitioner who has completed their higher specialist training or equivalent but are not recognised under Categories A - D above, the appropriate registration form can be downloaded here and should be submitted directly to the IMC with all the required supporting documentation.
How long does it take?
The application process with the IMC can take from between 8 and 12 weeks to complete.
Fees
The registration year runs from the 1st of July to the 30th of June each year. The registration fee will differ depending upon the type of registration and stage in the year when you register – full details of the registration fees are available here.
