Working as a Radiographer/Sonographer Locum in Ireland

In order to be eligible to work as a Radiographer/Sonographer Locum in Ireland, you will be required to be a member of the Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiotherapy (IIRRT). The IIRRT is the governing body who evaluate and register Radiographer/Sonographer to practice in Ireland - www.iirrt.ie.

How to you go about registering with the IIRRT?

If you qualified as a radiographer in Ireland, you will automatically be eligible for registration with the IIRRT and must apply directly to the Institute by completing ‘Form C’ that is available here.

If your qualifications are from outside the Republic of Ireland, completing your registration is a two-stage process.

The first will require the validation of your qualifications by the Radiographers Qualifications and Review Board of the Irish Institute of Radiography. You will need to complete and submit the following two forms. ‘Form A’ which must be completed by your educational institute and ‘Form B’ which you must complete. Both forms can be downloaded here and should be returned directly to the Institute.

Please ensure that these forms are as detailed as possible to speed up the validation process. Where supporting documentations and qualifications/certificates are not in English, you will be required to provide official translations of these documents. Once your qualifications have been validated, you will then be eligible to register with the Institute. The second stage will be to apply directly to the Institute by completing ‘Form C’ which is available here.
