Working as a Radiographer/Sonographer in the UK
In order to be eligible to work as a Radiographer/Sonographer in the UK, you must register with the Health Professions Council (HPC) - http://www.hpc-uk.org/. The HPC is the Health professional council of the UK, who vet qualifications and experience to ensure it meets with their required standards.
How to go about Registering with the HPC
If you qualifications are from outside of the UK, you will need to apply via the international registration route which requires you to fill out a detailed application form regarding your education and qualifications in addition to providing a character and health reference.
It is also possible to register temporarily with the Health Professions Council if you are established elsewhere in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. If English is not your first language, you will be required to complete an English proficiency test and to provide official translations of your qualifications and other documentation. How long does the process take?
The application process can take up to four months so it is essential that it is completed prior to your arrival in the UK. Once the HPC have processed your application, their on line register is updated immediately. It is the best way for you to check you are registered.
